Jimmy Evans (Marriage Today) was saying that people today, in an attempt to curb the marriage crisis in our society, have become more idealistic in their pre-marriage requirement for a spouse. “He/She should be this, that, and everything PERFECT”- assuming that the more perfect a person is, the less effort you have to put into your relationship. Like maybe your marriage could be on auto pilot, cruise control or so.
Stay with me in context here… of course you should have great standards for a spouse (and meet those standards yourself). However, any relationship and marriage will require loving on purpose, sacrificially.
Think about it… we’ve all had our slips and falls in our relationship with God… and He’s perfect… um, so why didn’t auto pilot work? Who or what went wrong?
How true it is!!!
